Description
Chateau de la Bourdaisiere, an exquisite 19th century chateau in the Loire Valley of France. Dating back to the 14th century and owned and occupied by French nobles until 1923 when sold to a wealthy American, Mrs. de Merinville who subsequently sold it in 1938. The Nazis occupied the chateau during WWII, later used as a convalescent home for the elderly by the french government, later purchased by an attorney in 1988, culminating in acquisition by its current owners, Princes of Broglie who made significant improvements and modernization where it is now available to the public as hotel accommodations. In 2003, the chateau became known to the American public when used in the filming of Joe Millionaire. It was also listed as a historic monument in 1947. My husband and I stayed in the room just above the arched door while touring the exquisite castles of the kings, such as Chambord, Chenonceau, and Villandry.

The detailing in this work is marvelous Dr. Gehr. I love the structure retains this but remains in the distance. Not an easy feat sometimes. The violet hints throughout are magic. F/L

Thank you, Mike. We stayed at this lovely french chateau in 2010 for our 9th wedding anniversary. Our room was on the top floor just above the arched doorway. It was the perfect location to visit the many castles in the Loire Valley.
